Scenic & Culture Tour Itinerary
(Subject to change and rearrangement) Day 1 – Aug. 31, 2010 Leave Vancouver to Beijing. Day 2 – Sept. 1, 2010 Arrive Beijing in the afternoon, transfer to hotel after dinner. Day 3 – Sept. 2, 2010 After a leisurely breakfast, we will visit Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Beijing Duck Dinner. Day 4 – Sept. 3, 2010 Visit Beihai Park and view the 2nd Nine Dragon Screen in China. In the afternoon, Hutong Tour and visit Liulichang Culture and Antiques Street - galleries, book stores and art supply stores. Acrobatics show in the evening. Day 5 – Sept. 4, 2010 Today, we will visit the Great Wall of China and meet some Chinese artists in the afternoon. Leave Beijing to Da Tong by a train or bus. Day 6 – Sept. 5, 2010 Arrive in Datong – a city with a history of 2400 years. After breakfast, we will visit the Yangang Grottoes (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Huayan Monastery (916 – 1125), and the largest and oldest (600 years old) Nine Dragon Screen in China. Day 7 – Sept. 6, 2010
Our coach will take
us from Da Tong to Mt. Wutai.
En route,
we will visit the Hanging Monastery in Mt. Hengshan and the 900 years old
Wooden Pagoda in Ying County. Day 8 – Sept. 7, 2010 Our coach will take us to Mt. Wutai. Sightseeing at the Wutai scenic area - one of China's Four Sacred Buddhist mountains with picturesque landscape, temples built in Han – Tang – Ming & Qing Dynasties (Xiantong , Pusading , Puhaa , Tayuan and Five Dragon Hall & Ancient Theatre. Day 9 – Sept. 8, 2010 Arrive in Tai Yuan in the morning. Visit Shan Xi Museum and Jin Temple. Enjoy local cuisine in the evening Day 10 – Sept. 9, 2010 Our coach will take us from Tai Yuan to Pingyao – an exceptionally well-preserved traditional Han Chinese city. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Day 11 – Sept. 10, 2010 Visit the Rishengchang Financial House Museum, the Qiao Family Courtyard House (where the film Raise the Red Lantern was filmed), Shuang Lin Temple and has a stroll in the Ming Qing Street. (500-year-old) we will take a train (soft sleeper) to Shanghai. Day 12 – Sept. 11, 2010 Visit Shanghai Museum, the Eastern Pearl Tower and Shanghai City Planning Museum. Day 13 – Sept. 12, 2010 Visit the Yu Garden, the Old City Market, Jade Buddha Temple and the Bund. Day 14 – Sept. 13, 2010 After breakfast, check out of hotel and have a pleasant journey home. * Option: You can extend a few days in Shanghai to visit the Expo. Tour Leader: Andy Shutse Lou , owner of A & A Gallery Inc., was raised in an artist's family in Beijing and obtained his Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the University of North Texas. He has taught Chinese Brush Painting at U.B.C. , S.F.U., the University of Victoria and the A & A Gallery. Andy will be your personal tutor in Chinese history, language, philosophy and art. Tour special features: Each year A & A Gallery Inc. organizes a cultural tour to China with 4 Star Hotel accommodation and excellent meals. However, our focus is on cultural study. This year's tour is specially designed for people who love Chinese art, history and landscape. Andy Lou, your Tour Leader for the entire tour, is a Beijing native and a well-known painter in both Chinese and western styles. His friendships, family ties and contacts in the Chinese artistic community open doors into art galleries and studios.
